Local Context

Small shrub that is common across the estate, for example along Pygmy Falcon on the left of the road when going from Dirk's Causeway to the contractor's gate.

Identification

Growth: Small shrub or woody slender shrublet up to 1.2 m high.
Flowers: Blue to pale mauve or deep purple, appearing solitary (or on very short stalks), with a corolla tube 15 mm long.
Leaves: Obovate to oblong-obovate, 10–20 mm long, nearly stalkless (subsessile) or short-stalked, sometimes toothed and appearing clustered or in whorls.
Texture: Leaves are covered in very fine short hairs.

Did You Know?

This species has a long flowering season and is even sometimes seen flowering in winter.
